Petronella and Ravi went South to visit pool locations in Kalutara Galle and Hambantota Districts.
Sunday 9 October
The opening of the Kalladi pool. Tony and Petronella traveled to Kalladi in Eachchilampatu in the Southern part of Trincomalee District. This was the first location for a pool in an LTTE controlled area.
15 to 21 October
Trincomalee was visited where there were 2 graduations and a good number of successful meetings. On the last day we met up with Becky and Nimal, the top DJ from BBC Radio 1, who was doing a feature on SwimLanka.
Saturday 15 October
Nilaveli Graduation. The children, who are looked after by Sister Mary at the CARITAS convent, graduated
Sunday 16 October
The first graduation at the Dutch Bay site in Trincomalee town.
Wednesday 26 October
Meeting with ZOA in Colombo, and the signing of an agreement with Suntel Relief Trust Fund that they would fund 2 pools in both Mullaitivu and Ampara Districts for 6 months.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October
Outside Odel, the best known upmarket ‘high street shop’ in Colombo, the SwimLanka team spent the weekend raising funds.
