Back to Trincomalee for the opening of the second pool in Dutch Bay. Accepting applications had been temporarily been stopped as there were 500 on the waiting list. As a result a second pool was being opened there

A recce was made for the fifth and sixth Trincomalee District locations, being Kaladi in Echchilampattu, which is in the UnCleared Zone and is LTTE held territory, and Muthur Town.
We are very grateful for the assistance of Reverend Terrence from the Methodist Church in Trincomalee, who is already working in the area and heavily involved with projects in the local communities who very badly affected

Thursday 15 September
Petronella and Julian had a meeting with the Governor of North East Province to discuss the possibilities of a 25 metre swimming pool in Trincomalee. It was suggested that a pool could be built in conjunction with the playground that was going to be opened the next Tuesday

Two more Trincomalee coaches started training at Rainbow Swimming Academy
Sunday 18 to Friday 23 September
Petronella was back in Trincomalee, trying to meet local government officials regarding the 25 metre pool.
A frustrating week as individuals were not always in their office and there was a hartal strike day. Apart from checking on the training that was taking place on non hartal days, she eventually met up with the Provincial Governor, and the Provincial Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sport.

Julian and Ravi go to the Habaraduwa and Goviyapahana pool openings, and the Unawatuna graduation, all in Galle District
